New Mexico Arrives In Washington

On December 7, 2006 the New Mexico State Society of Washington D.C. held their annual holiday event to gather New Mexicans and collect gifts for unfortunate children of the D.C. area. Over 150 New Mexicans attended the event in a nonpartisan way of showing unison amongst the state.

In attendance, along with Rep. Pearce, were Rep. Heather Wilson (NM-01) and Senator Pete Domenici. The event included New Mexican style catering from Anita's restaurant and sparkling wine from Gruet Winery of Albuquerque. Marine Corps guards were on hand to receive gifts at the event which took place in the Longworth House Office Building on Capitol Hill.

"Being able to come together as New Mexicans for an enjoyable evening is very assuring." Rep. Pearce said. "In a time where often we find party lines drawn so heavily it can easily tear people apart. The beautiful thing about New Mexico is we all come from such a unique and diverse background. Whether someone is from Alamogordo, Rio Rancho, or Taos, all New Mexicans have the ability to come together as a friendly community."
